Joyoung Co., Ltd., a pioneer in small home appliances, has been dedicated to the research, production, and sale of these products since its invention of the first fully automatic home-use soymilk maker in 1994. Upholding its core values of health and innovation, Joyoung has spent the past three decades infusing technological warmth into Chinese households. From its kitchen appliance origins, the company has steadily expanded into living room and whole-home electrical products, emerging as an industry benchmark. Through relentless technological advancement, Joyoung has maintained a leading position across various niche markets and earned numerous firsts within the sector.

Amid the intensifying competition within the small appliance industry, 3D printing has become deeply embedded in Joyoung’s product development process. According to Mr. Wu Chuang, Manager of Joyoung’s R\&D Workshop, the company produced nearly 10,000 prototype parts in 2024 using Farsoon’s Flight 403P system, consuming over one ton of material. These prototypes supported functional validation, market testing, and 3C certification. Compared with traditional CNC methods, Flight technology improved R\&D efficiency by 20%, enabling faster product launches and giving Joyoung a competitive edge.

Accelerated Iteration and Low-Volume Production

The Flight system enables rapid design iteration and small-batch trial production, reducing prototype lead times from the traditional 3–5 days to just 1–2 days—a 60% improvement in processing speed and a 20% reduction in the overall development cycle. For example, Joyoung leveraged Flight technology to produce prototypes for its new non-coating rice cookers and high-speed blenders. Complete sets of parts were printed within 48 hours, allowing for swift assembly verification and functional testing (e.g., strength and heat resistance), significantly boosting R\&D agility and time-to-market responsiveness—establishing a strong competitive moat.

Following its release, the non-coating rice cooker became a consumer favorite and won numerous accolades, prompting a wave of imitation across the industry.

33% Reduction in Prototyping Costs

3D printing also offers remarkable cost advantages. Previously, Joyoung spent approximately CNY 15 million annually on prototype production via traditional methods. With 3D printing (including Flight and SLA technologies), costs were reduced to around CNY 10 million—a 33% savings. Additionally, the Flight system’s powder materials are recyclable, achieving over 90% material utilization and aligning with green manufacturing principles.

High Heat Resistance, Strength, and Precision

Flight technology supports materials such as nylon and glass fiber-reinforced nylon, meeting stringent requirements for heat resistance, insulation, and mechanical strength in small appliances. Farsoon’s industrial-grade nylon FS3201PA-F, for instance, allows printed prototypes to withstand temperatures up to 145°C without deformation—ideal for applications such as boiling extraction in soymilk makers and high-temperature steaming in rice cookers. Furthermore, Flight's ±0.1mm print accuracy ensures the fidelity of fine features like microstructures and small apertures.

A Closed-Loop Security System for Digital R\&D

In an industry marked by fierce competition, Joyoung has built a secure, digitized R\&D workflow through 3D printing. The entire process—from design blueprint to physical prototype—remains confidential, minimizing the risk of product leaks.

Embracing the Wave of Intelligent Transformation

Mr. Wu Chuang emphasized that Flight technology is reshaping the future of small appliance R\&D with its advantages in speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness. As smart transformation sweeps across the industry, Joyoung anticipates discovering more synergistic opportunities and achieving even greater technological breakthroughs in the years to come.
