On September 10, 2025, at the TCT Shenzhen exhibition, Deep Material, an AI-driven new materials company, announced the launch of seven proprietary metal 3D printing powders alongside its integrated software–hardware DM Agent for intelligent materials R&D. This milestone marks a paradigm shift in how China develops advanced metals, lowering costs and accelerating innovation cycles.

Breaking the Bottleneck in Metal Materials R&D

“Material innovation has always propelled civilization forward, yet traditional metal development often takes years or even decades, with uncertain outcomes,” said Wang Xuanze, Founder & CEO of Deep Material. Confronted with scarce, costly, and poorly standardized datasets, the company built high-throughput experimental equipment, automated labs, and standardized data protocols—cutting R&D costs by one to two orders of magnitude.

Seven New Alloys: Surpassing Aerospace Standards

Deep Material introduced a portfolio spanning high-strength aluminum, medium-strength aluminum, superalloys, and mold steels, each delivering breakthrough performance:

· High-Strength Aluminum Alloys

CA224H: Solves cracking issues of 2-series alloys. After heat treatment, tensile strength 550 MPa, elongation 14%, fatigue strength 210 MPa×10exceeding aerospace standards (170 MPa). Stable large-part printing with no cracks. Price: CNY 400/kg (introductory CNY 300/kg).

CA750H: Addresses 7-series alloy cracking. Post-treatment tensile strength 575 MPa, elongation 11%, fatigue 260 MPa×10. Supports natural and black anodizing. Price: CNY 450/kg (introductory CNY 350/kg).

· Medium-Strength Aluminum Alloys

CA613M, CA661M, CA663M: For 3C electronics. Tensile strength 450 MPa, elongation ≥11%, conductivity 217 W/m·K, excellent anodizing. Price: CNY 350/kg (introductory CNY 280/kg).

· Nickel-Based Superalloy (K438)

Optimized composition to eliminate cracking in large builds and post-processing. Fully standards-compliant, shortening customer qualification cycles. Price: ≤CNY 900/kg.

· Mold Steels (CF30H1, CF30H2)

Exceptional toughness, temper resistance, heat-crack resistance, and thermal conductivity. Outperform conventional printed mold steels, extending die-casting tool life. Price: ≤CNY 180/kg.

All materials are backed by full third-party certifications. Orders above one ton include customized process tuning for stable production on mainstream printers.

DM Agent: Automating Materials Discovery

The other highlight was DM Agent, a closed-loop AI+lab system integrating literature mining, composition optimization, process tuning, experimental analysis, and iterative comparison.

· Combines large language models with domain-specific models for both conceptual and parametric optimization.

· Powered by high-throughput 3D printers and tensile testers, enabling 24/7 fully automated labs.

· Runs hundreds of parallel experiments per furnace, accelerating validation cycles dramatically.

Currently, DM Agent is accessible only to strategic partners, though customers purchasing Deep Material’s high-throughput lab systems will gain trial access this year.

Reshaping the Ecosystem: From Materials to Applications

According to Wang, the core challenge in 3D printing is not demand but limited materials. By expanding into ultra-high-strength titanium alloys and high-entropy alloys, Deep Material aims to unlock new applications.

R&D Director Dr. Kong Hui explained that the company has built a tri-source data framework:

1. Literature-derived expert knowledge, extracted via proprietary LLM-based tools.

2. High-dimensional experimental data across preparation, processing, and testing.

3. Simulation/computational data to accelerate model convergence.

Its upgraded high-throughput testing platform (version 2.0) enables end-to-end automated performance testing, already supporting top domestic and international universities in building advanced materials databases.

Strategic Partnerships

At the launch, Deep Material announced collaborations with:

· Sichuan Vanadium & Titanium Industry Investment,

· Jiangsu Kangrui New Materials,

· Dalian Yaming Automotive Components,

· Hefei Kejing Materials Technology.

These alliances will drive large-scale application of AI + new materials, accelerating the intelligent transformation of China’s manufacturing sector.

By delivering affordable, aerospace-grade alloys (aluminum at CNY 300/kg), alongside the DM Agent AI platform, Deep Material is redefining the pace and economics of materials discovery. With strategic partners in place and a roadmap toward next-gen alloys, the company is set to become a cornerstone in the global shift toward AI-enabled, data-driven materials innovation.
