At the 2024 Formnext exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, Farsoon Technologies华曙高科 and its partner, the German metal materials company Headmade Materials GmbH, jointly showcased components such as large, support-free Ti64 impellers produced using the ColdMetalFusion (CMF) technology. This demonstration highlighted the scalability and reliability of CMF technology in manufacturing advanced components.

The CMF technology introduces a cost-effective method for SLS systems to mass-produce high-quality alloy parts, including stainless steel, titanium alloys, and mold steels. This approach eliminates the need for support structures, reduces post-processing time, and minimizes material costs.

Compared to Metal Injection Molding (MIM), CMF technology enables flexible, mold-free, small-batch production, serving as a powerful complement to traditional methods. Green parts produced via CMF are more stable, reliable, durable, and machinable than those made with binder-based processes. This technology supports industrial products with a minimum wall thickness of 1mm and finds extensive applications in aerospace, automotive, mold-making, and tooling.

Efficiency

CMF technology significantly boosts the productivity of 3D-printed metal parts. Through a streamlined process of printing, debinding, and sintering, components can be delivered within just three days.

Quality

CMF reduces defects during printing and processing while enabling high-precision quality through post-processing techniques such as surface smoothing, threading, milling, and sandblasting. Uniform shrinkage during debinding enhances the accuracy of large-scale components. Tests reveal that stainless steel and titanium parts printed using CMF surpass the yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, and elongation standards of metal injection-molded parts.

Cost-Effectiveness

By integrating metal powders into a high-performance binder system, CMF eliminates the need for supports, drastically lowering operational costs and increasing production output. Component costs can be reduced by up to 90%.

One-Stop Solution

CMF offers an economical and integrated production solution. By preloading specific CMF programs, SLS equipment can produce end-use metal parts with industrial-grade quality and precision tolerances.

Large-Scale Production

Farsoon Technologies' 403P series features a forming cylinder size of 400mm × 400mm × 450mm, optimizing space utilization and printing efficiency. This allows for the seamless production of large-scale components without the need for subsequent assembly.

On December 4, 2024, Christian, CEO of Headmade Materials GmbH, will visit Farsoon Technologies. Those interested in CMF technology are welcome to contact Farsoon Technologies (call 4000552155) to explore the boundless possibilities of CMF alongside Christian.
