On March 27, 2025, Nanji Bear observed that Guangzhou Additive Media released an announcement stating that the People’s Government of Zengcheng District, Guangzhou, has formally signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Guangzhou Zhongshan Precision Technology Co., Ltd. for the establishment of a comprehensive industrial chain base in additive manufacturing. According to the agreement, the project is set to receive a total investment exceeding 10 billion CNY, centering on the integration of additive manufacturing equipment, materials, and end-use products. The first phase will occupy a planned land area of 500 mu, aiming to construct an internationally competitive and fully integrated industrial ecosystem, with an expected annual output value surpassing 20 billion CNY. This collaboration marks a pivotal step for Zengcheng District in advancing high-quality development of the advanced manufacturing sector and shaping a modern industrial framework.

Industrial Synergy: Dual Empowerment through Policy and Technological Strength

Situated at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Zengcheng District has in recent years accelerated the development of three trillion-CNY industrial clusters—integrated circuits, display technologies, and new energy vehicles—while designating additive manufacturing as a key focus among strategic emerging industries. The signing of this full-chain additive manufacturing base project represents a vital initiative in the district’s efforts to “strengthen, supplement, and extend” its industrial chains.

As a leading local enterprise in Zengcheng, Zhongshan Precision has cultivated deep expertise in new materials and high-end manufacturing over the years, with significant technological strengths in sectors such as 3C electronics, new energy, and intelligent equipment. Previously, the company acquired Hart 3D, a domestic metal 3D printing firm, thereby intensifying its strategic expansion into the additive manufacturing landscape.

Strategic Layout: Building a Complete Industrial Ecosystem

According to the blueprint, the additive manufacturing industrial base will concentrate on three core directions:

1. Establishing a high-end equipment manufacturing hub, with a focus on the R&D and production of industrial-grade 3D printing systems;

2. Constructing an innovation platform for advanced materials, collaborating with universities and research institutes to tackle the development of specialized materials such as metals and ceramics;

3. Cultivating an application-oriented industrial cluster by attracting enterprises from automotive parts, aerospace, medical equipment, and related fields.

Looking ahead, Zengcheng District will introduce dedicated supportive policies, offering comprehensive assistance in land use, talent recruitment, and financial subsidies, to accelerate technological breakthroughs and enterprise expansion.

Industry Impact: A Dual Engine for Regional Economy and Industrial Transformation

This collaboration stands not only as a milestone in Zengcheng’s industrial advancement but also as a key moment in the Greater Bay Area’s additive manufacturing development. Data shows that in 2023, Zengcheng led the city in industrial investment growth, with large-scale industrial output exceeding 150 billion CNY, laying a solid foundation for new project implementation. The completion of Zhongshan Precision’s additive manufacturing base is expected to generate over ten thousand jobs and attract a wave of high-growth technology firms, further enhancing the district’s competitive edge in advanced manufacturing.

As Guangdong Province integrates additive manufacturing into its strategic emerging industries roadmap, Zengcheng is leveraging its geographic and industrial strengths to fast-track its transformation into a “Greater Bay Area Advanced Manufacturing Hub.” The signing of this multibillion-CNY project not only injects fresh momentum into the regional economy but also holds the promise of elevating China’s role in the global additive manufacturing value chain.
